I was at gun store that was selling off A bunch of guns from an estate and they had A 22 bolt action Daisy rifle for 50.00 I never
knew Daisy made anything other than air rifles Dose anybody know
anything about theese guns? and is it worth the price?

Yeah, they made a couple of different things besides air rifles. The ones you're likely referring to are the 2200 series (various model numbers all starting with 22, such as 2201, 2202, 2212). Here's an example here on GB: http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=8004838. They made a semi-auto line called the Legacy, and even made paintball guns. They also made a really unique .22 rifle that shot caseless ammunition. Both it and its ammo haven't been made since the late 60's.
The price is right, but I've never known any of their actual firearms (not thier air rifles) to be all that accurate, so it depends what you're after.0 -
I had one of those daisy rifles when I was a kid, well....actually I still have it, and in fact I still shoot it from time to time, and I must say it has been one of my guns I've had that's been the most accurate. 0 -
Theres pellet guns made in .22 caliber pellets, maybe thats what it was.

270, daisy does indeed make, or at least did at one time, .22lr rifles with a rotary clip identical to those used in a ruger 10/22. 0 -
Back when I was in college I worked summers as a counselor & range instructor at a summer bible camp in Wisconsin. We had 4 of these Daisy 22lr bolt action rifles. The rotary magazine broke on all 4 rifles after 1 summer of kids shooting the rifles. They still functioned as single shots & as I recall were very accurate through the next summer. I do however remember some more breakages and last recall hearing the camp director selling them off for $100 a piece to gun buy back in Chicago. All 4 rifles were no longer functioning at the time of being sold to Chicago PD.
$50 seems a little high to me.

If I remember right the ammo ( out of production ) is worth more than the gun. (I'm speaking of the caseless stuff.)

I believe that queeksdraw is right. I seem to remember that these guns were meant to slip between the cracks between firearm and air-type rifle. I believe the ATF pretty much put them out of business. I don't remember the particulars.

The rifle queeks and searcher is referring to is known as the Daisy VL and does indeed shoot caseless ammunition. It wasn't meant to slide between the cracks, but it did for a couple of years until they eventually classified it as a firearm and Daisy ceased production. Some of these were real cheap plastic and kinda looked like an air rifle, but the better ones had a wooden stock and were nicely finished, they were known as presentation grade.
Indeed, Daisy did make a bolt-action rifle as well as semi-auto that fired .22lr, and some bolt-action models and single-shots that would also shoot longs and shorts as well. They might have made others, but I know they made both of those for sure, as well as the VL that shot .22 caliber caseless.

rraymond, daisy has a website and they have a discussion forum kinda like this and undoubtedly if you're really wanting some info these guys could come up with some. I did see one guy requesting info on a 2201 model and another guy offered to scan his owners manual for the 2202/2212 models. If the one you're looking at is one of those models, I'd sure check it out. http://www.daisy.com, it is under museum...
