The S&W comes with the same accy as the Walther. You probably get that 200 diference when you take the 'actual' selling price of the S&W compared to the MSRP of the Walther. Until you do your own research (which you did), selling prices are just hearsay.

I have a P99 and love it. But, if you're thinking of mounting any tactical lights or lasers under it, buy the S&W. The Smith comes with "standard" rails that accept most of the add-ons. I found out later that the Walther has a different set of rails molded into the dust cover to accept Walther accessories, which I've never seen advertised.
They both use the same magazines of course, and if you're sworn law enforcement, they are readily available from S&W for about $22 each. Mine is very accurate, and hasn't failed yet. It's replaced by P226 as the "go to" gun when off duty.

The only thing worse than lawbreakers, are lawmakers.

Just to let you know the P99 is a much beter gun then the S&W just ask the NJ State Police which were going to go to the S&W99 and had nothing but problems, thus returning all 2,500 of them and going back to the H&K P7

$499 is a great price for a Walther P99! I don't think you will find a SW99 for less than that.
