45 acp chinese broomhandle mauser

i am looking for something unusual. a 45cal chinese broomhandle mauser in very good to excellent condition. before you think they do not exist- i have seen one. anyone in cyberspace that can point me in the right direction? Thanks for the effort/dave

  A word to the wise, many of the .45 broomhandle weapons are not true .45 ACP, if you plan on shooting this weapon have an expert gun smith not only check it but test fire it. Also, consider what you will use for a stripper clip to load it if you do decide to fire it.

  I was the source of the link in drobs' post that will give you some background. Thought I had reported on this before. I got one which came in new but long stored condition, pretty close to NRA perfect. As a military it has some tool marks in the exterior finish a little worse than seen on most mil lugers. Never saw a more beautiful rifled barrel. Other machined fit and function such as the sliding parts (bbl to receiver, etc) is excellent. All the little inside parts are obviously hand made, showing file marks but seem properly heat treated. Every part has the s/n on it. I use 8x57 clips with a small plate soldered on to hold action open while loading (actually two clips soldered end on end to hold the 10 rounds). Loaded only 3 rounds of hardball first and all went with one trigger pull sounded like one. Loaded six next time that fired OK. Then found the box of .45ACP I had bought had conical shape bullets which it failed to feed reliably. Only fired that once and since deadlined with triple bypass. Plan to get out again soon and continue the fun.

  For anyone still interested in this thread, I intended to mention that I asked the importer (iar-arms.com) and was told from their info a total of about 8500 of these pistols were made in the 1930s and were later destroyed. Some escaped and were found in 1980s which they purchased with serial numbers running from around 800 to 1900. This is approximate from memory. Should have written it down. My pistol s/n is in the 1300s.
