44 XL Bullets
I recently purchased a lot of reloaded 44 spcl and 44 mag bullets. Among the lot are some bullets marked 44 XL. They appear to be a necked down 44 mag/spcl? The cases are all Western. Anyone know what these are? Thanks

I recently purchased several boxesz of 44 spl and 44 mag re-loads from a gun shop that closed down a looooong timne ago. In the 44 spl marked bag I found a number of reloaded rounds that are head marked "Western 44 XL" they appear to be a necked down 44 to about 40 or 41 calibur. Any info as to what these are would be appreciated. 0 -

Indulge me in this correction - "bullets" are the actual projectiles, while what you purchased are cartridges. Saying "bullets" makes you sound like Peter Jennings, and I'm sure that's not a comparison you would like.
The .44XL is essentially the .44-40 loaded for use in the Marble's Game Getter. If original, not reloads, they have some collector value (roughly $1 / round). The original loadings are either shot, with paper/wax sabot (usually red) or round ball.0 -

No, This is the first topic I have listed on this item. I don't know anything about the 20th. I find it highly offensive that an "expert" would reprimand a novice such as I over a trivial definition. I will bet that 95% of the subscribers to Gunbroker would call a bullet a bullet and all would know what you are talking about. This is the second time I have been humiliated over a trivial definition and will never ask for your "expert" assistance again. I have gone to a number of gun shows and have always found the vendors extremely helpful even with the most stupid questions that I could possibly have asked. And millions of people weren't reading the stupid question and tactless response. I've conducted a lot of sales and purchases on Gunbroker but have had enough on this subject. 0 -

interresting subject here. I have to agree a bullet is the actual projectile and needs to be defined perfectly here. It's kind of like calling a magazine a clip, totally different. And Peter Jennings does in fact suck.
