unknown lock mark
the lock plate has what looks like a bee in a circle with a G on one wing and a L on the other. can anyone tell me who made it and if it gives any help as to the age of the lock? it is flintlock.

albatrosdva, What you might be looking at is the proof mark which could possibly be belgian. Is there a crown on top of the circle?
The closest thing I could find says The L and G is a type of proof meaning definitive black powder proof for breech loading guns, small bore guns and handguns Cica since 1893
Really not enough info to go on.0 -
Can you post a picture of the marks and lock? Also decribe the gun that it is off of if you have the whole gun. I might be able to look it up. What size is the lock?[8D] 0
