HK USP 45 law enforcement model (??)

Purchased this from my local dealer (less than helpful guy), and he neglected to inform me that he was selling me a "LE" model USP 45.
Short story:
What differences exist between the LE model and a 'regular' USP?
Long story:
I found out later when I had my weapon converted to a lefty safety/decocker and the armorer gave me grief about having promags. No selling 12-round magazines to civilians - heh. I called the dealers bluff (as I paid full price) and demanded 2 10-round HK mags - he begrudgingly obliged, so I was happy.
While waiting for the armorer, he let my play around with his USP expert - and I loved the trigger on that weapon. He informed me he could modify mine to be like that (a match trigger conversion). I did some more research, and believe I have come across some bad news - it's my understanding that the trigger assembly for the "LE" model is different, and I can't convert to the match trigger ?!?!
If this is true, I am 1) thoroughly pissed off at my dealer and 2) have no recourse as I've fired approximately 1,000 rounds through the weapon. [:(!]

1st of all welcome to the board! Alot of good info available here.
A couple questions for you. Did the gun come with 2 hi-cap mags and you made your dealer exchange them for 10 rounders or did the dealer refuse to give you any mags at all?
I would think any competant gunsmith should be able to give that gun a trigger job. Then again I've never heard of an LE Only USP.
Does the gun say USP on the side of the slide?
Is the gun currently Double Action Only?
Just trying to clarify what you have there.

yeah you should have some clarity. I have an expert and love the trigger as well. Did the dealer sell you LEO mags?!?!?!? Or were they aftermarket?? The LE H and K has a trigger that cannot be modified. Go to www.pistolsmith.com and get into their forums. In there is a heckler and koch message forum that can and will answer any and all questions about the greatest gun ever!!

I never took possession of the hi-cap magazines. The dealer provided me with 2 10-round promag magazines, in lieu of the OEM 12-round HK LE mags. As I paid full price, I was rather pissed off to find out I had cheapo magazines. As mentioned above, I had him provide me with the HK 10-round clips I theoretically "purchased" (but never received).
As far as the "any gunsmith...decent trigger job" comment, if you refer to the second link above, that's what made me nervous. Again, I'm going to claim ignorance here. It seems this "Grayguns" appears pretty knowledgable and 'official', so I don't know exactly how different my LE weapon is from a standard USP.
As far as what it says on the slide, it looks like any other HK USP 45. The weapon did come in a different package from what I'm used to. Other HK's I've seen online are sold in a light gray case, with molded plastic interior. My weapon came in a hard black HK case, with a foam interior (like those mattress cover things). On the outside of the case was the "LE" notation, and that it should have 12-round hi-cap magazines.
To address how the firing action is set up: It is set up DA/SA - as in, full magazine in, no chambered round, the first shot will be double action, then all other shots will be single action. The setup also includes the mandatory safety and (optional) de-cocker. The de-cocking variant is typically used by Law Enforcement guys (so I've been told) and I can get rid of it if I so choose, but I like it for now.
In any case, I see I'm writing a novella here, which I didn't intend to do. I hope I'm giving you the right info here, it could be too much or too little, and I apologize if that's the case.

Aww man, just spoke with Teddy (from www.actionsbyt.com) - he informed me that the whole hammer assembly in the LE model is "a completely different animal" than the standard USP. He said he can work on it to make the trigger better, but it can never get as good as a standard USP.

Even knowledgeable dealers may or may not know the full scoop on something. The better dealers will fess up or try to make something right if you are unhappy. LE marked hi-caps are not legal for civilians and I don't believe any H&K hi-caps were legally imported for civilian use on the 45.

I care more about the trigger assembly - apparently you can't get it as good as the gun I thought I was buying. The action is much stiffer and not as 'tweakable' as the standard USP.
The mags are a separate issue, and were presented to try to convey the "sliminess" of the dealer I was working with.0 -
Sounds like you're stuck there. That's a bummer. Hey I owned (past tense) the standard USP, didn't much care for the trigger.

The "LE" model I shot had a very long "re-set" length of travel once in single action mode. It required a very long deliberate release of the trigger between each shot. Does "LE" mean Liability Engineering?[}:)]
Is this how your trigger behaves?

Someone may be confusing "LE" with the "LEM" trigger. The LE USP has high capacity mags. Other than that, I think that it is the same as any other USP. You should be able to have the match trigger installed. The LEM trigger is HK's answer to Glock. LEM USP's do not have control levers. If you have a control lever, you don't have the LEM trigger. Check with HK. 0
