Over / Under Shotgun - Info Request
Fellow Gun Nuts:
I have a pair of o/u shotguns that I need help in identifying please. They both have italian Proof Marks as being made by Filli Gambra, located in Cordone Italy, with matching certificates identifying them as a Montreal Model 73. However, they both have "Rottweil" engraved on the bottom of the receivers, along with a Rottweil buttplate. (Rotweil is a German arms maker, located somewhere in the Black Forest?)They are both 12 ga w/ a full & modified barrels. The barrels (28") are blued and the receivers are stainless w/ engraving. Single selective trigger. Oil finished stocks, with a schnabel foreend.
I cannot find any reference to these guns anywhere, and was hoping someone could provide some additional information please.

Hello "Saftdave" -- aka David[:)]
First of all I would like to welcome you to the forum. I may not be the first, and hopefully will not be the last to do so.
I am more familiar with shotguns that most anything else, but in this case I am in hopes that the "Captain" will come on line for you as he has a computer data base that I would give my eye-teeth for.
In the meanwhile, the American distributor is Rottweil Competition, 1330 N. Glassell, Ste. M, Orange, California 92667, Phone No. 800-538-3109. Unfortunately, I do not have their e-mail address or web-site listing.
I am familiar with the the model 650 and the model 72, but the Montreal Model 73 is a new one on me.
If all else fails, you might want to get on the phone and go directly to the "horse's-mouth".
Best Regards[:)]0 -
Thanks for the welcome, Adamsquailhunter-
I tried the contact # for Rottweil, however, it is an "invalid number"[V]
I appreciate the input though. I think I have something strange going on with these guns.0 -
Hello Again "Saftdave"[:)]
1. Damamit Nobel was the importer for Rottweil
Their address was (is???) 81 Ruckman Road, Closter, NJ 07674
Phone number was (is???) 201-767-1995
web-site: www.shooters.com
e-mail: fturtner@cybernex.net
2. Are you absolutely sure that this is Gambra and not Gamba. Gamba did use the "Montreal" name in several of their models.
3. They---Gamba---is imported by Gamba of America, which is a subsidary of Firing Line which is located in Aurora, Colorado.
Shotguns were previously imported by Heckler & Koch, Inc., in Sterling, VA.

5. If none of this works---then I give up. I am out of ideas.
The best we can hope for is that the "Captain" is back in port with the "Leaking Leana" and will come on line with his data-base.
Best regards[:)]0 -
Hello AdamsQuailHunter[:)]
Thank you for your further research. The correct marking is Gamba as opposed to GambRa. I guess my plinking finger "squibbed"?
Anyways, let me add additional information:
The warranty? card in the cases was to be mailed to:
LE ARMERIE ITALIANE
F.LLI GAMBA
GARDONE V.T. (Brescia)
The following information is located on the left side of the upper barrels:
Flli Gamba-Armi-Gardone-V.T.
Acciaio Boehlero
Since I don't speak Italian very well, or read it, (actually none at all), I really don't know what the weapon is telling me.
The above is the only markings on the barrell(s).There are no guage
indications, other than the stars to indicate chokes.
I will try to make the contacts with the groups of importers that you have provided, and see what they have for input.?
Thank you AQH very much for your time & efforts. Perhaps, as you said, the "Captain" will have the info[?]
I also suppose that I could obtain a Value--? These weapons are easily 99%

I had contacted the importer in CO, who gave me some partial info. However,I just wanted to let you folks know that Captain Kirk replied to my request(s) with excellent information!
AQH, you were right on target about his database-
Thank you all very much for your time & effort-

Hello "Saftdave"[:)]
Happy to be of what little help that I could.
I am even happier that the "Captain" was able to use his computer data base to give you the information you need.
Best Regards[:)]0
