    Orca44mag,

You don't mention if you have a special model like a magnum, etc. I suggest a free phone call to Remington at 800-243-9700 and give them your model info. They will advise you as to what type of barrel would be appropriate for your model/receiver. You can also browse some of the extra barrels they offer at this link.

You might also check into Mossberg barrels for the 870. Yes, they do make them, I have a 26" "accu-choke" type for my Wingmaster. They run alot less dollars as well.

I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6!

For what purpose? 870 barrels are easy to come by, though not cheap. You really need to decide what you want the new barrel for, rifled, smooth bore rifle sighted, trap/skeet, birds, etc. After that it's just a matter of ordering the new barrel. An 870 is an 870. Any barrel for an 870 will fit.
