savage or tikka

Why bother asking? If you feel the craftsmanship is poor on the Savage go with the Tikka. $110 is nothing for better quality, if you plan on keeping it. I am spending more than that on just rings and bases (David Gentry). What ever you decide, do not skimp on optics. I hope you enjoy which ever gun you choose.

Go with the TIKKA. I've got 3, they are great.

Go to a large gun store, look at both - side-by-side, then you will buy the Tikka!

Savage does have great accuracy, but your mention of the poor fit and finish leads me to believe it bothers you. It will probably continue to bother you no matter how well it shoots. These days $100 is really not much, so go with the Tikka.

I think they are both good guns but for the extra money the heft, and bolt action of the Tikka are superior. I don't own the Savage any more but I still have the Tikka.

dantheman, I was kinda in a hurry when I answered before, so let me go again.
first of all, you're comparing apples to oranges.
there's such a wide margin between the two makers. Sure Savage makes a good gun, but that's about the extent of it.
Tikka on the other hand is high quality, well made, very reliable,
not to mention a whole lot prettier. Tikkas shoot extremely well, they are well balanced, and the recoil is next to none.
I'm real surprised that you found one for only $100 or so more than a savage. I place Tikka above Reminton.
Are you anywhere near the Dallas FT.Worth area?? If you are, then come shoot some of mine and feel first hand the difference between a
    volkswagon and a Lexus.
I realize that this is just an opinion, but I think it's a majority.
