'70's Ruger .22 Caliber price check?
I've got an old I think it's '73 or '74 Ruger pistol, I inherited when my grandfather died. I've had it for anout 10 years. I've taken it to the practice range a few times. It's a 6 shooter that takes magnum bullets. Really fires well, nice balance. I'd say it's in very good condition maybe 1 or 2 small nicks on it. It's black metal with the typical brown Ruger grip. I was just curious what it's worth. I'm probably going to sell it because I just moved and the people I'm living with have kids so I don't want to have to worry about anything happening and I really have no need for it anyway.

sounds like you have a Ruger single six with the magnum cylinder installed, it could be the old style which would have three screws thru the frame and is only safe to carry with 5 rounds loaded because the firing pin rests on the case, unless it has been sent back to Ruger to have the new style transfer bar put in it or maybe a new style in which case it would have two pins and is safe to load all six .
value depends on which model it is and what condition its in , low end could be down to 100 bucks or so if its in rough shape, up to maybe 300 hundred or so in really fine shape, and if its one of the harder to find older models .
new models sell retail for just under $300 for the blued guns and stainless are higher ,0 -

Since the gun was your grandfathers, you might want to consider a pistol-sized gunsafe to store it in instead of getting rid of it. You can buy another gun later, but it wasn't the one your grandfather likely loved to shoot.
