.40 cal help

I am looking to buy a .40 cal handgun, semi auto and would like to know what is the most reliable gun I can get in the price range of $300 - $500. I am looking for something kind of small that will fit into a holster and can be easily conceled. I have looked at a couple of guns that I am considering (Glock, Steyr, and Ruger). Any kind of help on which is the most reliable and would fit my needs would be much appreciated.

Also if any one has any info on where to purchase one of these guns in the Tampa, Fl. area that would be great!

    I have a S&W 40 and it is slim and very nice to carry you might want to look into a smith mine is a 4014 mod and D/A only it won't hang in your pants its light and carres 8 plus 1 in the tub you can find a used mod and it won't cost a arm and a leg. BiggerHammer [B)]

    The Ruger P-94 is a very reliable gun with Preban Mags it gives an 11+1 shot capacity.And should provide a lifetime service with routine maintenance.

    Though Ruger's a good gun, no doubt, I'd hardly call it small or easy to conceal. Sig makes their P239 in .40 and it's is a nice concealable size. With a little dillegence you can find them in the $450 range.

    haha, yup, Ruger's definately aren't small are they. I also would recommend a Sig 239. Or maybe a Kahr 40. Glock, would however be my first choice over any, but thats personal preference. I think the Sig or Kahr would be more concealable even more so than a baby glock cause they are thinner.

    Have you looked into Springfield XD? It comes with a 4 inch barrel and looks alot like the glock but doesn't have the same feel as a glock. I have been very happy with mine. Paid $399 for it.

    Hunting monsters is risky business. The danger isn't that the monster will catch you, but that you won't know when you have become one yourself.

    glock all the way mod.23 with a hicap. 13 shots.any kind of holster you can imagen redaly avalible and no prob to find at any gun show in central fl. for 385.00-550.00 used to new. and they never fail even with you swetting allover them."lived their for 6 years too hot[xx(]"good luck[:p]

    Just my .02 cents but I am very happy with the Baretta 9000 for a carry gun in .40 cal. I also carry a H&K USP Compact but it's a little too pricey for what you are looking to spend. Baretta's can be had for 399.00 at the right dealer and it's small and holds 10 in the clip.

    What I meant to add was that Sonny's Guns on Florida Ave between Fowler and Fletcher has a deven selection. Also you might want to go to the indoor range on Dale Mabry between Sligh and Waters to rent a few different guns to see what you like best.

    Don't get the Glock! unless you have very small, yet strong hands and enjoy lots of recoil! Instead, try a Witness! The Compact model will take the Baby Eagle 41AE mags and then hold 12+1! The 40 is a cool caliber, and for concealment-remember that this will be the same gun you will have to shoot accurately under stress! You don't want a light gun for shooting; you don't need a heavy gun for hiding.
    Many IDPA shooters swear by the CZ-inspired family of autos that include the eagles, witnesses and other fine guns. or you can shoot several different guns and make up your own mind
