Question about Ruger Vaqueros

I have been shooting cowboy matches for a few years now, and the most common design I have seen is the Vaquero design.

Although the Bisley design is used for cowboy shooting, and was correct for the period, there are far more Vaquero's out on the range.

For competition, I would stick with the 4 3/4" or 5 1/2" barrels for a quicker draw, and handling between targets.

I own a pair of Vaquueros. I do not shoot competitevely, but I am very happy with these guns. Cosmetically, they are very similar to the Colts. Internally, they are infinately more dependable and safe. You just can't beat a Ruger , in my opinion.

as searcher said they're both correct but if i where you I would try to shoot each of them before buying one, as there is alot of difference in how they feel. maybe you could go to a weekend shoot and ask to try one out from some of the shooters there or maybe there is a gunshop in your area that rents them? both are great guns ,
