Braendlin-Albini .577 Snyder

I've got a South Australian Militia rifle.Good condition,forestock is cut down. Still .577 Snyder breech loading.No sling. Any idea of value? numbers produced?

  Can help you with the number made, not the value. According to the book I have, only 500 of the ALBINI-BRAENDLIN Rifles were acquired by the purchasing agents from South Australia.
  They were orginally percussion lock, muzzle loading, 577 caliber, Enfield Model 1853 Rifles.They were converted in Birmingham to breech loaders firing the .577 Snider Cartridge. Interestingly enought Holland & Holland were the company who sold the rifles to the Australians.
  Kind of hard for an American to put a value on something like that. I know some of our early conversions (Morse, Roberts, Needham, Peabody etc.) are worth good money.

  HI, BOUGHT AND SOLD A FEW OF THESE,HIGH END IS $600 US, ABOUT $300 TO $400 IF ALTERED FROM ORIGINAL CONDITION, GREAT FUN TO SHOOT OLD SCROUNGER GOT AMMO![:D]

  Don't mean to contradict you sir, but I believe the ALBINI-BRAENDLIN rifles you owned were the Belgian model chambered for the 11.4 x 50mm rimmed cartridge. According to my book the Belgians used at least (8) models of this rifle over a period of 20 years plus.
  There were only 500 ALBINI-BRAENDLIN's fabricated in Birmingham for South Australia in 577 Snider Caliber.

  Thank you both for your input.I did not know the number aquired for the SA Militia. and I was informed that Old Scroungre has the ammo so mine can't be listed as an antique in SA. and I would like to fire it so I'll try to order or procure some ammo.Thank again
