i picked one of these up a few years back and reciently put a draganov style stock on it. however ive lost the screw that goes into the rear of the reciever to hold it in place. it seems pretty secure with just the bolt in the pistol grip holding it in place but i dont want to leave it like this. question is will any course threaded screw work in it? do i need to order a specific screw? or can i just drill it out some to take what i have on hand?

  Just got one of the sar1 romanian ak it doesn't have a bayo lug and a piece is tacked on over the threaded barrel. Can I take the piece off of the end of the barrel and put a slant or other type of brake or flash-hider etc. on it and fix it up tacticle if need be ??

  Grizzly, give a call to CDNN at 800-588-9500. They have Russian military scopes with the factory side mounts in 4X24, 6X64, and 8X42 at between $120 and $140. You can also pick up the standard side mount with 1" rings for under $40 and install your own scope. Ask CDNN if they still have their Kobra red dot sight for the AK available. I've used this same red dot on Kalashnikovs while in Bulgaria and Macedonia and it is a fine unit. EAA imports them into the USA and the one I bought is just as good as the military issue- in fact it looks better and uses standard batteries. The side mount is the way to go- top cover mounts are near useless- and is the choice of the militarys who use AK's on a daily basis. I've fired enough Kalashnikov's that I was damn near a party member and I recommend you stick with the side mount for your optics.

  I just bought the Kobra sight from CDNN FOR $120.00 hard to bet them.
  They have top covers with weaver rails p/n becnbm1000 $25.00
  or top cover with rings p/n saitc for $20.00

  thanks for the info i will call cdnn, really hate to cobble guns,rather wait and get the right stuff. wonder if there will be any unused aks soon from a dry climate?
