Just pick up a Ruger Mini 14 in stainless steel 223. caliber dont know how to down load pictures for it. a serial# 185-068xx Could some one tell me any information about the rifle the year it was made the model all information about the 223 0 -
Here's a good link about Edward Maynard and his rifles.
To be a brief as possible the "MASSACHUSETTS ARMS COMPANY" was the contractor who produced Maynard's rifles from the first Capping Carbine circa 1857 to the Long-Range Creedmoor's of the 1880's. His rifles were in production at M.A.C. for at least 30 years.
Get hold of a copy of FLAYDERMAN he goes into it in great detail with pictures.

Daniel; Welcome to the Forums. Don't know exactly what You want to know about Edward Maynard...? So, I'll just tell You what I have in my Database..and hope you see something useful for the effort given.
Edward Maynard, Washington, D.C., and Chicopee Falls, Mass. Dental Surgeon, Inventor and patentee of the Maynard Breech-loading system, patented May 27, 1851. No.8,126, and Dec. 6, 1859, No. 26,364. Also invented the Maynard Primer.
On Dec.25,1857, Dr. Maynard furnished the Government 400 Maynard carbines at $30.00 each, delivery from Chicopee Falls; presumably made by tha Maynard Arms Company.
The Maynard primer system was adopted and incorporated in the Model 1855 rifle musket, in addition to a large quantity installed in altered (flintlock) muskets. A total of $75,000.00 was paid Dr. Maynard for the Government rights to his Tape Primer system.
The Massachusetts Arms Company of Chicopee Falls, Mass., Manufactured small revolvers using the Maynard Tape Lock priming system. Maynard, green and Smith Carbines, and percussion revolvers made under Robert Adams (British) U.S. patent No. 9694, of May 5, 1853. The government bought 20,202 Maynard carbines during the Civil War, in addition to 400 purchased in 1857.
At the close of the Civil War, with the decreasing demand for firearms, The Business of the Company Fell Off, and the Assets, Stock and franchise were bought out and operated by T.W. Carter, who had been in charge of operations.
Then on Feb.1, 1876, the works were taken over by the Lamb Knitting Machine MFG.Co., owners (since 1867) of the water-power and shops in which the Massachusetts Arms Company conducted its business. The firm continued the manufacture of arms under the Maynard patents, until about 1889/90, Wm.F. McFarland, ex-employee of the Springfield Armory being the superintendent in charge of production...I don't know when Maynard Died or have any further data in my data base concerning Him.........Best......
