Savage 24j-DL Who Knows?
I traded a Nearly new H&R handirifle for one today, can anyone tell me anything about it? Did I do good? No serial # that I can find, 22wmr over 20 ga, montecarlo hardwood stock, pressed checkering, selector on hammer, fox game scene on left of reciever, turkey on right. about 95% condition, the only wear on th gun is on the triggerguard. Not in any of my books. Possible year and value?

Don't know if this is the same one or not? No "j" in the listing, only "MODEL 24DL" Latest B B has the
"24 DL" made with a "satin chrome frame", made from 62 to 69. $120 to $170, in the condition you describe.0 -
I know prices vary in different areas, but in my area the Savage would go for $200-300 in the condition you describe.
The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese in the trap.0 -
I believe the "DL" designation stands for "Deluxe"... If you believe the bluebook 100% of the time, you will eventually get screwed.... The market on these nice little o/u's in the southeast is considerably higher than BB... As are most items here in the God's Country... The DL model is supposed to be the top of the line and would bring $275-$350 around here.... The .22Lr / .410... a littl less and the centerfire over 20 Ga. a little more, although I don't think they made those in the "DL" model.. 0 -
Wow, I wish I could buy a bunch more for $170. I seem to have a thing for these O/u's. It is definately a 24J. I was told by the guy it came from he bought it new in 67 or 68 which I guess would account for the lack of a SN.

The books (and that includes Blue Book) are totally wrong on the Savage Stevens model 24 I'd gladly buy any and all at those prices! It should b e 250 to 300. They are also off on the Ithaca 500 O/U shotguns. They are worth $200 more than they give them credit for!!! 0 -
I have one of these, and just by chance saw one on another auction site awhile back for 500.00 and it sold.

I had three .22/410 and they all brought between 350, and 450.00
The rifle shotgun over/under in savage or stevens brings a premium down here in Florida..

classic 095, That's what they do in Illinois also. I go to several good shops and when one comes in (especially 410/22) they sell in a week. they are a fun gun and I'd never be without one!! 0
