T/C Renegade serial number, kit or not

I have 2 T/C Renegades that look identical. The only difference between them is one has swivel studs and the serial numbers. I priced one to a gentleman for $100 + ship ($12) and he asked for the serial number. I sent the serial number to him and it is Kxxxxx. He told me that he would pass on it because the K meant that it was a kit gun. Now I bought the other Renegade new off the shelf and I know that it is not a kit. If I put these two side by side they look identicial ( sling swivel studs excepted) so what I am asking is does a K mean that it is a kit gun and if so then why would a kit gun look as good as the one I bought new off the shelf? For $100 I thought that I was giving some one a good deal. Now I am really confused since I have been selling guns for several years at my dad's little shop! Any experts out there that can answer this? Thanks.[8D]

  I called T/C Custom Shop today and here is what I found out. The K at the beginning of a T/C muzzle loader does mean that it was a kit gun butas I stated above the one that I have that has a K looks identicial to the one that doesn't and this is what the shop told me. For the past 4 to 5 years T/C has been sending prefinished stocks, barrels, and all other metal parts in the kits. Basically to them a kit now is a gun with all finished parts so all you have to do is just put all the screws in and pin the barrel. You do not have to do any finish wirk, no fitting work, or any blueing. Pretty easy kit if you ask me. Even the sights are put on at the factory! I will still stand by my price of $100 + shipping and the gun is no more than 5 years old according to T/C themselves![8D]
