Fabrique d'armes le Guerre

I was given this handgun stamped Fabrique d'armes le Guerre CAL 7.65 on the receiver, it has ROYAL on the handgrip and the number 58023 stamped on the other side of the receiver. Any idea on the history or value of this handgun?

  "ROYAL" is a name associated with (2) Spanish Manufacturers "Beistegi Hermanos" & "ZULAICA Y CIA" . They produced many pistols similar to yours for sale all over the world.
  The name the trading company who sold these pistols used on the pistols was "Fabrique D'Armes De Guerre De Grande Precision". Many manufactures produced inexpensive pistols for this company. These would date to pre Civil War Spain, probably 1920's. $100 - $200 app. current value.

  Ben, Your gun is of a group usually called a Ruby. From Spain, made by small gun shops and trade groups. Each maker made up a name or names. There are dozens. Sold all over the world to poor governments and individual soldiers. My 1st semi auto handgun was a Ruby with the Fabrique d'armes le Guerre name on the slide. Got it in 1983, when I was in the 11th grade. I had 100.00 in it then and would be lucky to get that much for it now. No collector interest. I see them at gun shows for under $100.00 and they sell slowly.

  I have also seen the Fabrique d'Arms de Grande Precision stamped on Spanish pistols from "Colonial" and "Continental"- I'm sure that there must be countless others as well. There are a few folks who specialize in collecting these Spanish pistols- a collection that can never be completed becuase there will always be another obscure maker pop up. The sock drawers and cigar boxes of America are filled with these little gems (60 million handguns in America...HAH!) and most move at the values which were already quoted. Interest in these pistols droped off quite a bit when UPS demanded that all handguns be shipped by overnight air a few years back. Try selling it at a gunshow- I hear neatguns is looking to expand his collection.
