Difference between boxer and berdan primed?

Was just wondering what the difference was between the two...is one corrosive and the other not? Can anyone enlighten me on this?

  They function in the same way with the main difference being the Boxer primer uses a single flash hole while the Berdan (mostly foriegn and not made in U.S.) uses two smaller holes making reloading so difficult that it is not practical. That's why Berdan ammo is cheaper as it is not generally reloadable.

  The Boxer is completely self contained. Priming mixture, anvil, and cup. In the Berdan, a small protrusion sitting up in the flash hole acts as the anvil. This is part of the case itself. The separate priming mixture and cup fit over it.
  
  Berdan is quite reloadable and for my really exotic calibres, I do. It does require a different method of depriming. Either hydralic method or a piercing tool.
