Old Stevens pistol

I've got a old steven's single shot pistol that break's open it's nickle plated look's like a dueling pistol say's steven's /tcc on the barrel has four stars stamped on frame 32cal.is to small and 38cal is to large. Would any one know anything about this gun or what cal. it might be. thank's for any help.

  Interesting pistol! Can't find anything with that barrel marking in my references. Close as I can come is "J. STEVENS A & T CO.". Caliber is a question to? Might be some kind of European knock-off for a metric caliber?

  Can you Post a Photo of this Gun...? Listed in my database is the Model's Stevens #3 in various calibers, #5 in Various Calibers, # 34 in Various Calibers, Model 39 in Various Calibers, Model 40 in Various Calibers, Model 35,in Various Calibers Model 37 "GOULD" in Various Calibers, and everything else in 22 Caliber....All in All there were 24 [Twenty Four} Tip Up Models Made...So as you can see....A whole lot more information is needed to ascertain as to just what you actually have.......

  I had the same problem with my Hopkins&Allen 38&32 were to large in the centerfire cartridge.Try the 32 or 38 rimfire that was what mine was, there is a difference in the dia. hope this helps

  Stevens single shot pistols were made over a lot of years and in humpteen sizes, calibers, barrel lengths and designs. The early produced pieces date pretty early maybe late 1860s. Rifles and shotguns also were made in same design with push button on left side to allow barrel break. All I have seen were of pretty nice quality for the time, many original nickel plate on the frame.
  CaptK is right that a lot more info can probably ID it.
