Davenport 10 ga. shotgun
Appreciate any info on a 10 gauge single shot shotgun with 34 inch damascus barrel. Ser# is 312--name DAVENPORT is on left side of receiver.

Davenport was a gunmaker located originally in Providence RI from 1880-82, then moved to Norwich CT and was in business there up until 1909. They were taken over in 1901 by the firm of Hopkins & Allen.
The single-barrel guns are fairly common and were made from 1880 until about 1914 (first by Davenport, then by Hopkins & Allen). The single guns can be worth a few hundred if in absolute top condition, but as typically found they are worth about $75-$100.
Obviously, it should not be considered a shooter with modern ammunition.0 -
