Sightron Scopes

Anyone ever use one of these scopes? Are they a knockoff of something else? How are the optics as compared to Weaver, Redfield, Zeiss, Tasco, etc? I am thinking of trying one out but I never heard of them so any info would be great. They do not have cheap prices on them.

  Not as good as Leuopold, but excellent scopes for the money spent. I have a couple of them, and am impressed. They hold up well and have nice clear optics. I wouldt hesitate to buy another.

  I have a sightron 3x12x42 on a ruger 77/22 and it is all the scope I need for that application, if not more. On the hunting rifles and longer range rifles like my .22-250, I have settled for no less than Leupold, Zeiss, and swarovski. This is more a matter of preference and almost guaranteed performance than anything. I think if I were looking to save a buck or two, I would opt for the Nikon Monarch over any other choice, these scopes are in my opinion the best overall "value" for the dollar. I think you will find the Nikon Monarch just a tad more expensive than the sightron, but well worth the difference if you're looking to stay under say $400 in a good scope.

  Sightrons are reputed to be decent scopes for the price. If that is your top dollar, you should get a decent scope. I would save my nickels longer and buy higher quality, which I think is worth the price in the long run. If you shoot little, and in good conditions an inexpensive scope will do the job. If you shoot more in variable conditions, a high end scope in the mid price range will serve you better, longer. I like Burris Signature, Leupold and Nikon Monarch. Weaver Grand Slam is not bad for the price. Compare prices at www.bearbasin.com A very good outfit to do business with.

  I agree with axlerfan on the bearbasin suggestion, I have also done some business with these guys and you can depend on good, fast service from them in my experience. I did a little research on the nikon vs. sightron price issue.
  
  Sightron 3x12x42 = app. $250-$300
  Nikon 3x9x40 monarch = app. $225-$275
  Nikon 4x12x40 monarch = app. $300-$350
  
  I don't have any doubt that the monarch is the better optic of the two. You should be able to find the 3x9x40 monarch for a tad cheaper than the sightron, and the 4x12x40 will be a few pennies more, but a much better scope in my opinion...........Also, you might check fleabay, always a nice option to find a great deal on a scope, especially in the off season as we are now....
