I'm confussed. On this auction I bought a Mauser Model 44,
but I don't know what it is. E-mailed Prince William A&C...
He said it was a Russan captured and scrubbed Prodezecer 44
and replaced with Yugo crest and M48 on the reciever.
The picture in the add showed a M48 that were made after WWII.
Were M48 made from RC k98's?

  According to "Rifles Of The World" (2nd ed), under the heading of "MODEL 1898K SHORT RIFLE":
  
  "Many German war surplus Kar. 98k were refurbished in Yugoslavia after the end of World War II. Most of the German marks were ground away---except for 'Mod. 98' on the left rear of the receiver and a few minor Waffenamt inspectors' marks---and the post-1948 State Arms were added over the chamber. The left side of the chamber is usually marked, in Cyrillic, 'PREDUZECE 44' ('Factory no. 44').

  This is what PW A&C replyed to my query on
  what a Mauser Model 44 was:
  
  M-44 Preduzzer is a K-98 captured and Nazi markings taken off and
  replaced
  with Yugo crest & Yugo marking - turned down bolt, K-98 action, 8mm
  Cal., no
  cracks and I will test fire if you like.

  PW A&C has over A+ costemor rateing compillied by GunBroker.com.
  The photos accompying the add were of a M48.
  I have called PW A&C and they have been very cooripitive, and even let me use a law-a-way plan.

  If PREDUZUCE 44 added the crest and 1948 mark, than this
  Mauser Madness may come to an end when I get my Mil Surp.
  
  I asked if the peace was a m48,
  and PW A&C said it was a 'Model 44 48'.
  
  I understand the M48 has a shorter action,
  so a k98 will have the longer bolt.
  I hope it's a scrubbed k98, but at $125 I
  will be happy of it's a excellent m48.
  
  I'll just have to find a k98 in my stocking,
  so I have to 'smoooz' Santa real good this year!
