Old L.C. Smith Help
Have old SxS 12 ga. ser.#432xx, hammerless, has engraving of woodchuck on left side plate and quail on righ. have dates on receiver of july 18, 86 and oct. 5, 86. I have a couble books both say L.C.Smith started in 1890-1945, on the center of rib Hunter Arms maker Fulton NY. Trying to find what I have got, also it has plain exjectors[?]

eun, does your post have a typo---"woodchuck"? I can research your gun as to mfr. date when I get home tonight. In the meantime, if you need a value, please clarify your post, and give a complete description, i.e. as much detailed info as you can. 0 -
Sould be woodchock, small bird with a long beak. both bbls has scrool work full length, A latter G on bottom of both bbls, raped or damascus bbls, I think it was made between 1910- 1915? I think it is called side locks or box locks. Stock is checkered pistal grip and schnabel forend on forarm. Butt plate is molded plastic and has a rowman holding a bow and a dog by his feet and a deer at the bottm, looking for model and year of mfg. I would say it is about 40%, if you could help I thank you. If you would have a value it would help. Thanks agin

Frank, based on the serial number of your gun, it was manufactured in 1897. By your descripton, it has Damascus steel barrels, which makes it a "wall hanger" and unsafe to shoot. The engravings on the sidelocks identify it as a Grade 2 (if the quail are on the left sideplate). However, my reference book has a picture of an "unknown grade" with three quail on the right and a woodcock on the left. Regardless, unless you find a collector of Damascus Elsies, the 40% condition will put the price between $150-$350 at best. 0 -
