Does anyone know how modern day shotgun barrels are manufactured?

Also rifle barrels. I understand the various ways to rifle a barrel but do not know how they are started and the hole put in them.

I know the old damascus shotgun barrels were iron strips wrapped around a mandrel and welded.

  rockton; there are two methods I know when it comes to making the rifle barrel, or any barrel for that matter.
  I've always heard them refered as the push or pull method.
  The push method is where the barrel is actually milled out or "pushed through"
  The pull method is where the barrel is cast around a steel rod of whatever dia. and the the rod is pulled out.
  Might be total B.S. I've never made one. All i know is that it's quite interesting.
