Reloading brass Shotshells?
I came into some brass UMC 12 ga shells over the weekend and I think that they e would be just the ticket for an old SXS that I have. What primer is appropriate? CCI 300's seem to fit, what wad? blue dusters seem too small in diameter. am I limited to black powder only? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks, that gives me a great place to start. I have the AA red wads and shouldn't be too hard to make the overshot ones.

I had brass 12 ga and 16 ga reloaded by a firm that specializes in reloading. I use the brass in my Beretta O/U, in our riot guns, and in our drillings and they work like a champ. We had ours loaded with 00 and 000 only and with a modern load. If you need their address it is 2nd Amendmentand they have an ad in Gun List. 0 -

Dixie Gun Works sell the proper 11 ga wads for brass shell use.
Brass shells are thinner so need a slightly larger wad. I used the
large Rifle primers in the Winc. brass shells. Either black
powder or Clean Shot powder works well. Would keep away from the
smokeless entirely. I used 75 grs and 1 1/8 oz shot in my old
Winch. 1887. It is a shy 3 dram load. Not recomending it, just telling you what I used. Powder should be the FFG (granulation).0
