I've owned a number of AMT pistols in the past, and have had problems with all of them. To me the materials their made of and the workmanship used to assemble them is substandard!
I wouldn't buy the pistol, even though the price is very attractive unless I could test fire it. And/or get some sort of money back guarantee if it was unreliable.0 -
I would tend to side with rufe, however, if the gun has already been broken in and functions fine then 200.00 might be a fair price, if it works reliably. 0 -
After the company put the third slide on my Hardballer I had to sell it. I can't recommend the brand. I still have the little 22lr back-up. I like the gun but it is not reliable. Save some more and buy a more expensive(reliable) brand. Ask yourself, "Why is the gun selling for 200.00." John

Sorry to disagree with everyone but,I have three and have had good luck with all .A 10mm Javelina Long Slide 7.5" Barrel. The other two are the .22 Lightning Models 5" and 6.5" Bull barrels these are target pistols.I also had and sold a .45 Hardballer that worked fine.

I am guessing you are talking about the AMT Backup 45 pistol I have two of them one in 380 and won in 45acp.I had a lot of trouble with both of them jamming but it was easy enough to fix with a file and a little elbow grease. The 45 also needed a new recoil spring the one from the factory was to weak. After you tune them a little bit they make a nice little shooter. 0 -
the .30 carbine AMT's sure are fun to shoot though. 0 -
You get what you pay for. If all the people who've had problems with the AMT aren't enough for ya, go ahead and buy it and try it. If nothing else you can probably get your 200 back from someone else. Just my .02. 0 -
I have the 45 backup..... I never use it, It's WAY too heavy to carry. And the trigger pull is about 30# BAD!!!!!!!!and you can't get parts for it. So if you just want one just to have, buy it [:D]
It will hurt you, More than it will hurt me..

Thanks for all the help!0 -
Had one, a hardballer, ate everything and was a quality piece. Wish I still had it> Traded it for a Colt which was a POS. This was about 1980. 0
