we have students routinely shoot freehand out to 100 yards very accuratly for what we do. Its not a target gun so we don't expect target accuracy. Such guns don't have target triggers, nor should they. My glock `17 is mushy of course, the Sig 228 is creepy, etc.
Such guns are designed to shoot someone at 21 feet or less and most will be less. For that they all work well it seems. Once you try to turn it into a target gun you end up spending a fortune for very little extra. Also the gun may not fit your hand. That is a vital issue. To get such guns "accurate" it's a combination of the right ammo, fit of the gun to your hand, your eyes and more. It's almost a never ending search. Fun.........isn't it?
