If it's an Eddystone action, has the military trigger, original barrel, shoots o.k., has a decent fit between action and stock, about $250 - $275.
If it's a Remington or Winchester action, Timney, etc. trigger, custom barrel by a quality maker, open sights, great fit, recoil pad, shoots great, maybe $450- $500.
If it were in .300 Win Mag, a little more. It's no better, but ammo is easier to find.

I love my 308 Norma. Mine is on a 1903A3. About ammo, I have made brass from 338 win mag, 7mm win mag, 7mm Weatherby, 300 Win mag, aand now 300 Weatherby mag. This seems to be the easiest, and the head dimensions are perfect.
All that being said, I was wondering if it could be rechambered in the 300 Winchester Short magnum. Does anyone know if this is possible? It would be nice to be able to buy ammo in the stores in an emergency.

Your barrel would be shorter, due to the extra length being cut off the back end, to make room to headspace the newly reamed WSM chamber, but it will work.

    I'm a man,....but I can change,.....If I have to,......I guess.

Might be a good excuse to re-barrel. The old one still shoots good, but, it could afford to lose a little weight.(couldn't we all)
