ar-15 DPMS??
I am interested in getting info on a ar-15 rifle i am thinking of buying. I have a COLT A-2 and a DPMS now. The dealer says this rifle is a dpms. The only markings are E.A CO.
KR. SPR. LA
MOD. j-15
223-5.56
Is this the previous company that DPMS bought out? I dont know the twist either. It is a pre-ban. It also looks like the lower is cast and upper is forged.Any danger with a cast lower. The price is $1100. It is a sweet gun. Any info would be much appreciated. Linetech1

If you are in the $1100 range I'd put a few more bucks in the piggy bank and look for a preban Colt. Cast receivers have a tendency to crack and then you'll be looking for another pre-ban lower. If the upper was cast then you could change it out with a new forged pre-ban configured upper. A lot of money for a gamble. Why not a post-ban? 900 bucks would get you a really nice Bushy with some extra goodies.[;)]

My understanding is that your lower was made by a company by the name of "ESSENTIAL ARMS" located in Krotz Springs Louisiana. Your serial number should have have a "EA" prefix. They were bought by DPMS prior to the ban. Most of their lowers were cast. 0 -
