Sugestion for a 9mm

I am president of a pistol club at a University in Michigan. The club has to submit a budget to the school for next year and we get to ask for equipment that the club "needs." Currently the club owns Ruger MK II's, a couple S&W 41's and a Ruger 357 revolver.

We were thinking of getting a 9mm for club members to use. We need something that will hold up over the years. We can wear out a Ruger MK II in 4 or 5 years. I am a fan of Glocks but don't feel that one would be right for the club since they don't have a conventional safety.
What gun would you suggest?

  how about a Berretta 92fs? It's the standard issue of the government, it's accurate and not expensive. I've got 2 of them and I've never had a jam and they like all kinds of ammo even poor quality reloads. I'm sure everyone has their own ideas. I've had Sigs, Glocks, Rugers and keep going back to the 92fs. just a thought.[8D][8D][8D]

  I second the Beretta,I own a Beretta in .40 caliber.

  I would suggest the taurus 92 duplicate of the baretta.
  But either is a great pistol for pleasure shooting. Fits
  hand great, great balance, easy operation, very satisfactory
  experience. High cap mags hold plenty of ammo too.

  I would go with an HK USP 9, Sig 226, or Browning HP.
  
  The HK UPS can be configured in any number of safety combinations. This SIG is accurate and durable. The Browning HP has been around forever so parts abound and it fits just about everyone's hands.

  Taurus has a lifetime warranty. CZ will hold up to abuse and reasonably priced.

  I'll second the HK USP or Sig P226, or even a Beretta, 3 great pistols.

  Sometimes girls like Glocks--the lack of external safeties makes their operation seem easier.
  
  The ranges around here use mostly Glocks for their rentals--some never clean them, inspite of the thousands of rounds they put through them.

  When it comes to quality, functionality, reliability, and every other quality a pistol should have, spend the extra money and get the SIG.

  I was thinking of a CZ so I was glad to see it came up.
  
  Cometentone, yes girls like Glocks. I have a G19 and every girl that has ever shot it likes the way if fits in their hand. I always seem to take an extra box of ammo for just the occasion.
