fecker scope
Has anyone had any experience with the J.W. Fecker scope? It looks a lot like a Unertl. Is quality close to Unertl?

I am looking for some information on a Fecker scope that I've had for years. It's 10 & 1/2 inches long, 3/4 inch diameter. It has a slightly belled eyepiece. Target adjustable mount. It is magnified - I haven't determined how much. It has one horizontal crosshair and a post. On the tube" J.W. Fecker #4401. 0 -
Your scope was made by J. W. Fecker a noted American Scope maker. He was active in producing scopes along with many other optical devices from the start of his business in Cleveland OH during the early 1920's. To the mid 1940's when he passed away in Pittsburg PA, where his factory was then located. The scopes were made until the 1950's by Fecker's successors.
Interestingly enought the scopes were all serial numbered and high quality, given this there might be collectors interest in your scope.0 -
Snowman covered the history of Fecker about as well as I could. Based on the description you've given your scope (which has a MUCH shorter length than the usual Fecker) sounds like the Fecker "Small Game Scope". This model was available in three lenghts: 10, 12, and 14 inches and in 2X, 3X, or 4X magnifications. These sold for around $50 in the 1950's and you had your choice of 1/2 or 1/4 click adjustments or the use of micrometer mounts. Besides your flat-top post reticle you could also order a standard cross hair. I see these small Feker scopes (you don't see them as often as the big Fekers) move at auctions in the $150 to $250 range- depending on condition and options (built in adjustment bring more money). I think that this is probably your scope but this is not my field of expertise and we have other members who are true optics experts.
