    The Sporter that was discontinued in 1971 is the Fingergrove Model, not the Sporter you are talking about.The Walnut Sporter was made up until a couple of years ago .They did make a Fingergroved 10/22 Sporter but are on the rare side.They were made about the same time the .44 like you have was made.

    Ok, I think I need to get a new gun book... My Gun Traders Guide just calls it a sporter - thanks for the clarification. Any idea of the going rate?

    It doesn't matter what you shoot, just shoot it well...

    I had one that sold for $375 and was 99%condition with the grooved
    forearm, walnut stock, and manual. I still have one that is the
    Mannlicher Walnut stock in 99% but no box. I believe it was manf.1967.

    bambihunter: Yes I know from what I am hearing I let it go for to little but I knew the fellow and he will take good care of it.

    I'm not sure I would have given much more than that for it. Keep me in mind if he ever wants to sell it...
