Savage Brand Smokeless Powder?

Has anyone out there ever heard of Savage Brand Smokeless Powder? I have come across a can that looks to be a "hundred years old". It says that it is for the .303 and "for use with .303 Metal Jacketed Bullets Only". It is made by Savage Repeating Arms Co and appears to be nearly full. Although the can has some rust and discoloration, it is not difficult to read most all of what was printed on the can. I would appriciate any information that you might have about this. I have looked a great deal on the internet and can find no mention anywhere that this powder ever existed. Let me know if you can help!

  Hi sealtee, and welcome to the forumn. That said I can't actually help much other than to say that Savage did make their own ammunition for a while in the 1920's and cartridges that have the "Savage" headstamp are valuable so the powder cans would be even more so. Good powder cans are collected by a small group so maybe keep posting your question every couple of weeks and somebody who really knows will give you a good answer. Good luck.

  If you do a google search on antique ammo collectors you will get a ton of clubs and people.
