This is not an uncommon problem with rifles from SA Inc. For all that money you'd think that their quality control would be a little better, but.....

Send it back----you paid for a lifetime warranty, so take advantage of it.

Thanks Neal, it was not what I wanted to hear, but you are right.

    RCHawk-

Nice to see you here! I'm enjoying those 9mm dies, thanks again! I agree with Neal, but I would place a call to SA first, see what they have to say, and then make a decision. You might just end up finding out that to have a local SA 'Smith work on it will be cheaper than the frieght charges. Of course, that's all dependant on if having a local 'smth work on it won't void your warranty.

    Hi Matt,
    Glad you like the dies.
I had a couple of experienced M1A guys,(one is a gunsmith) look at the rifle today at a match nearby. They both felt it was a "too tight bedding" problem and recommended I return it to SA. I am going to call for my RMA number tomorrow.

I had the same problem with a supermatch. It turned out it was
just the bedding did not leave room for the little locking tab to move backwards and lock. It required just a little reduction to make room for the lock to move into place.
If you can see for sure thats the problem, it is not hard to fix.
A moto tool with a small round bur # 6 or #8 would do it.
If you're not comfortable doing it, then have a gun guy do it. I just have been burned a couple times.

    Thanks Eric,
Mine was just a little tight where the "wings" on the front of the trigger assy met the bottom of the stock. I could have just filed a bit, but would have voided that wonderful warranty. The gun shipped back to SA today. They are even going to reimburse me the shipping costs. The 30 day turn around is a little depressing tho.

    [:D]Matt and interested parties.
I got my NM M1A back from Springfield yesterday. It was returned Overnight Express by FedEx. SA turned the rifle around in 9 days, including shipping eventhough they told me on the phone it would be 3 to 4 weeks. I guess that last phone call paid off.
The bedding was "relieved" in the area of the front of the trigger assembly and all functions as it should.
SA has so far impressed me with their handling of this problem, HOWEVER, I don't feel there should have been a problem in the first place.
Thanks for all your comments and help.

Good for you on all points Rich! Glad to "hear" it.

In reference to there having been a problem in the first place- drop them a polite e-mail stating your position- from the responses in this thread it's possible they are missing a step in their quality control.
