Ruger Blackhawk with Vent Rib?

I just got a used Ruger Blackhawk with a 6.5"bbl and a Poly Choke Vent rib. Was that a custom job, or did Poly Choke offer a barrel rib for the Blackhawk? Is it glued on??

It really helps to line up the sights quickly.

  There used to be kits offered (maybe they still are) with pre-cut sections of rib. Secured with epoxy.

  I put one on a blackhawk years ago , it came in a kit, seems like they said to use heat to remove it, if thats want you want to do , maybe a hair dryer would work?
