what are the guide lines of what weapons you can deal with a c&r dealer
i have a nagant revolver
can i ship it to a c&r dealer

I understand it's automaticaly a C&R gun if it's over 50yrs old. Otherwise it has to be listed on the list.

To clear the quote up: a C&R is not a "Dealer" it is a "Collector"
I have done some extensive research on this due to USPS regs Stating a FFL Dealer License is required (On both ends)to mail a handgun USPS.
Because the Postal Regs state dealer (FFL 01) then C&R FFL 03 are not included in being able to ship handguns USPS.

You may ship your Nangant just not USPS.

The nagant is both older than 50, and is listed on the C&R list. You can ship it to a C&R, but it will have to be UPS, and not the much cheaper USPS. I think UPS charges something like $25 for a handgun, but It'll get there fast.

However this is not completly true Post Office reg C024.1.3 lists the proper way to ship a hangun if you are a licensed dealer. It does not say what type of FFL is needed it just says licensed dealer. The BATF says here that a C&R is NOT a license to buy and sell C&R firearms.

So no you cannot use USPS for hanguns with a C&R. You can mail long guns with or without a C&R as long as the stipulations of the USPS are met.

Just out of curiosity, if a C&R license is NOT a license to buy and sell C&R firearms, what IS it a license to do?

p.s. I'm not disputing what you're saying because I also looked it up myself, I'm just really curious now about what exactly a C&R license is.

Yes.got to agree w/Warpig. As we recieve handgun's and ship USPS.You have to fill out the form at PO that you are a FFL Holder.It must be on file at every PO ya ship at.

According to Firearms Curios or Relics List (ATF P300.11): "The sole intent and purpose of the collector's license is to enable a firearms collector to obtain curio or relic firearms from outside his or her State of residence."

The greatest advantage of a C&R is that you can have a C&R shipped directly to you from anywhere in the country without having to go through a dealer in your state. In addition, if you are travelling in another state, you can buy a C&R on the spot, something that nonlicensees cannot do.

I believe that the previous comment referred to the fact that a C&R is NOT a license to engage in business as a dealer in firearms. And, besides, a C&R licensee may sell a C&R only under the same regulations as everyone else.
