Winchester 70 ?????'s

Can anyone tell me if Winchester ever made a model 70 blued short action with a stainless barrel? If so when, years of production, and what are they worth?

Thanks in advance.

This is not a heavy barrel it has Lightweight on the side, a walnut pistol grip stock, checkered, and is a .308. Barrel lenght is 20".

  You're describing the Winchester Model 70 Coyote. Originally, this gun was offered in .223, 22-250, .243, and .308, then about a year and a half to two years ago, winchester offered the coyote in the additional calibers if 270 wsm, 7mm wsm, and 300wsm, then new this year it's available in the additional calibers of .223 wssm and .243 wssm. This is a beautiful gun that comes with a dark stained (beaver tail forend)laminate wood stock and a medium/heavy stainless varmint barrel and a blued receiver. I have this gun in the .300 wsm and was lucky enough to buy a "special run" where winchester only made 500 guns with the claw extractor (controlled round feed) My best friend bought the same gun, but it only comes now in push round feed, as his is. Not a big issue, as I really don't see an advantage either way really, as I'm not going cape buffalo hunting with the .300 wsm any time soon, ha, ha.........just thought it would be neat to own a "special run" gun for possible value down the road..... I'm not real sure about the years of production for the original standard coyote calibers, but If you have a 270wsm, 7mm wsm, or the 300 wsm, I'm almost positive it would be serial numbered for 2001, 2002, or 2003. As far as the latest release in the .223 wssm, and the .243 wssm it would almost have to be serial numbered at the earliest in the late part of 2002 or 2003. As far as the worth, you will see the Coyote sell new for anywhere between $540 on the low end up to about $700 on the high end, just depends on where you buy it. I paid $569 for my .300 wsm and felt I got a really good deal because I bought mine in January of 2002, and it took me 8 months to find one for my buddy, who paid a little over $600 for his. They are much easier to find now than a year ago. I saw one last week in the Charlotte, NC Bass Pro Shops for $559, which is a pretty good deal.......... We actually found my buddies gun here on gunbroker.

  Sir, Winchester did make a Lwt. carbine with a 20" bll. in the late 80's early 90's, not sure of exact years. It was an all blue barrelled action with the 20" barrel, and did have Lightwieght stamped in script on the right side of the barrel. Are you sure someone has not, for some reason, bead blasted only the barrel? I am not aware that Winchester made a Lwt. with a blued action and stainless barrel. The stock was checkered walnut with a pattern that was not as fancy as the FWT's, and the end of the forearm was rounded, not shaped in the Fwt. style. Perhaps someone else can provide some more info.
