What are the differences between the Beretta 96 and the Taurus PT100/101?

  The only real physical difference is the location of the safety/de-cocking lever. The Beretta 96 uses the more current FS ambidextrous slide mounted lever. The Taurus uses the older left side frame mounted lever- which many people actually prefer. There are also minor differences in things like slide serrations. Retail price on the Taurus (PT100) is $575. Retail price on the Berreta 96 is $676. These are for basic pistols with no options or extras.

  The magazine catches are also different, and the mags are not interchangeable.

  Taurus purchased the Brazilian Factory that Beretta abandoned along with the older machinery. That is the manufacturing difference. Beretta tolerances are tighter, hence the accuracy. That comes form a phone call I made to beretta inquiring about the same thing several years back.
  
  The way I see it,If YOUR rifle shot as well as YOU say,...we wouldn't need gunsmiths.
