1911A1 bushing

Just aquired a MKIV series 80 stainless Colt. It has a colleted bushing and I heard these are prone to breaking real easy. Any info pro or con would be appreciated.

  I have several 70 series Colts with these bushings. I have bought a couple of spares because of tales of these breaking. I have one that I have been shooting regularly for 25 years and it has not broken yet. I usually put solid bushings in guns that I carry. You can fit a solid bushing to your same barrel, but the spring bushing is more accurate with a factory Colt barrel that is made for it.

  Just like Pearyw, I've put thousands of rounds thru mine and never had a problem. Mine is a Mk.IV Series 70 National Match barrel & collet bushing.
