Walther P99

I got one of the first Walther P99s that came to the US. Of course, it has that horrible hump in the trigger guard. I noticed in Guns and Ammo that the new ones don't have the hump. Here's my question: Are there enough changes in the new P99s to warrant me selling the one I have and buying a new opne, or should I take the one I have to a gun shop and have the hump surgically removed?

In the upper right hand corner of this screen there is a search icon. Click it, it allows you to search past threads. I did so for the Walther P99 & found 21 topic threads.

I was very impressed by the Smith & Wesson SW99 9mm, basically same gun for $100-$200 less. I got a chance to shoot one over the summer at a manufacturers shoot. I put them all in the bullzeye. Very few guns allow me to do this 1st time trying them. [;)]

Feels great in hand, hits what it is pointed at, and has a decocker for an internal firing pin.

Thanks, gentlemen, for the response! I went back through the post as drobs suggested and found a lot of good info. Gotdeer; That was a great site! Everyone seemed to like the P99, but they sure did a hatchet job on the P22. I bought one awhile ago and haven`t experienced the problems they had. Guess they got the bugs out before I bought mine! I noticed that the PPK/PPKS got mixed reviews. I have both, and I LOVE `em! The PPK/S I have in .32ACP has got a sweet DA trigger pull; The PPK in .380 is a little stiff yet, but it eats anything I feed it, and I figure it will loosen up a little the more I shoot her. Looks like the P99 is next on my "Gotta Have" list!
