I believe your pistol is a Beretta Model 1951. This was adopted by the Italian Army and Navy. Also strangely enough by both Israel and Egypt. It was a forerunner of the much more common Model 92.
From your description you MIGHT have a military issue model which is quite rare in this country! Most of the relatively few that were sold here were commerical models.
I don't recall ever seeing any with the markings you describe, for that reason I believe you might have a pistol very desirable to a collector.
Lucky man that you are, you might have the Egyptian Military Model? Found a picture of one in my books it has the same slide inscription as yours, and I know that they used a eagle with a wreath around it as a crest.
I know they exported their version of the 1951 Beretta for commercial sale in this country.
I don't believe any of the Italian 1951's made for the Egyptian Military were ever sold commercialy here.

Almost certain that is one of the Egyptian contract M1951's. A major difference between yours and the commercial M951 is that yours should have a heel mag release instead of the push button release.

I will dig out my two 951's tomorrow evening and get back to you. I have a genuine made in Italy, Egyptian contract gun and a commercial. There is a date or date code on you gun, on the left of he frame if I remember correctly. I would love to get an Israeli {sp ?? } 951 to finish out my "collection"

My Egyptian contract gun was made in 1955. Mine has three stars on a circle { Moon ? } inside what almost looks like a gear or cog belt pulley. Has to be some National emblem. I is a recent import - NA rdgfld N J. The wife says it is 3 stars in a crescent moon inside the outline of the sun.

The commercial gun has the date code XXII. All the normal Italian proofs. Gardone VT Italia.

The contract gun has much higher sights.
