STAR firearms by Interarms
A friend just acquired a Star 9mm imported by Interarms. It is supposed to be some kind of a compact but seems a little wide for every day concealed carry. He has offered it to me for what he paid for it ($220). It is in pretty good condition. The nice thing is that it is a private transfer and as such there is no BATF background check and thus I stay out of the "database", at least for this purchase.
I know nothing about Star and I understand that Interarms went under a couple of years ago. Is this a good deal and how good are Star firearms? I think Star is manufactured in Spain. Any comments pro or con are appreciated.

I am a Star fan. I own 6 of them. Unfortunately Star is out of business. I think they made some good guns for many years. I am afraid that parts are going to be a problem in the future. I think that one thing that hurt them in the last few years was the cost of the magazines. It has only been in the last few years that Promag has started making some models. I have 2 Model 31 40 S&W Star Pistols and only a couple of mags. Before the high cap mag ban, Interarms was the only source of the magazines. I had to pay $45 for a magazine for a gun that I only paid $350 for. 0 -

Sounds like it could be a Star M43 Firestar. I own one of these pistols and like it very much. I always felt that Star was the best of the three major Spanish manufacturers and it was a shame that they went out of business. CDNN in Abilne, Texas had spare magazines available for the Firestars a while back and I bought a few extras- at way under the old Interams dealer price! They may still have a few laying around.

Had, owned and sold many. Very decent firearms. Underated and unappreciated. $220 is a good deal. M-43 firestar is about the LOUDEST 9mm I have ever heard but is one AWESOME li'l pistol.

I have a Star Firestar M40 40 S&W that I carry...it's a nice gun...I bought some Interarms 7rnd clips with the finger extension which helps to hold it better if ya have big hands and have also purchased some 10 rnd Promag clips also....the Interarms clips are nice if ya can find them but are/can be pricey...it shoots really well and I haven't had any problems with mine...a couple of my buddies also have the 9mm and .45 versions...those are nice too...hope this helps!!!

I have a Star PD .45 and a Star Firestar .45. These are fine weapons, and will last a long time. Sounds like a fair price to me, CDN has orignal STAR mags in stock for $24.00. Go to www. cdnnvestments.com and look for STAR mags.
