Mystery Revolver
I have inherited an older revolver from my late grandfather, who in turn had received it years ago as repayment of some small debt. I'm trying to figure out what it is. It has no positively identifying marks. It's a 5 shot double action. It is nickle plated, the finish is in pretty good condition, and has an octogon barrel that measures 3 13/16 inches. It has a fixed front blade sight, and a flat spot with small longitudinal grooves at the rear in lieu of a rear sight. The top of the barrel is labelled "Lightning Express". The rifling has 5 lands. On the frame under the left side grip, "8881" is stamped. There are no markings to indicate caliber, but I'd guess it's roughly .44. The cylinder is removable after pulling out the cylinder pin. You folks have any idea what I've got here?
