Night sights

I want to put night sights on some of my pistols. What brands are good - what are good combinations?

  What are night sights? I saw some on a SKS, big fold up thing, how do they work.

  They either have glow-in-the-dark paint or luminescent elements that give off light in the dark. It makes it easier to aim at shadows and silhouettes in low light scenarios. Often when its dark you can see large figures well but not small sights.[;)]

  I prefer the liquid filled night sights,have them on my Beretta pistol. When I say liquid filled,meaning a luminescent substance which is claimed to last 10 years then they must be replaced. Do a search on the web for trijicon night sights and it will give a much better explanation of how they are made. They are rather expensive but I believe they are worth the money. Just my opinion.

  Many manufacturers make night sights, but in my opinion, trijicon is best...
  
  It doesn't matter what you shoot, just shoot it well...

  Darrel is talking about the night sites for AK's and SKS rifles...they run between $10-$15. They attach to the existing sights. I am not sure if these are the tritium filled sights like those put on pistols and such, and if they are they are probably not as bright as many of these have probably been around for a while.

  Most of these clip-on types for AK/SKS rifles are East German military surplus. They use luminous paint that has to be precharged with light to work, but age has often caused most of them to remain pretty dim or only glow for a short time. These sights can be bought for less than $15.00 and the dots either repainted or replaced with pieces of USGI cats-eye tape you can pick up at a gun show.
  
  Trijicons and Meprolite type sights are the hot setup, being guaranteed to glow brightly for 10-12 years. The only problem is that buying a set and having them installed would cost almost as much as your SKS.

  I like trijicon....have them on two Glocks. The installation tool they sell makes it easy!
