Shilen probably makes 'em. If you don't feel like dropping that much change you might also check with E.R. Shaw.

I was just emailing back and forth with Midway's customer service on why they did not carry the Adams and Bennett bbls in more calibers. I think they should carry 223 varmint contour bbls, 243 sporter contour, 7 mag, 308, etc. They say they are just offering calibers that Savage does not offer. If I have { I do [:)] } an 06 and want to convert to 223 { I did } I have to hope for a used bbl or pay for a gunsmith to thread and chamber a blank and then blue it. It is much cheaper to do assembly line style.
Bass Pro Shops has the Savage 12FV varmint on sale for $359.99 and I may buy one as I really want a heavy bbl to go along with the 223 sporter weight one I got off an auction site.
Midway carries the 223 bolt heads and complete bolts and magazine bits, why not bbls??
Email them and let them know what you are interested in and maybe they will see an opportunity to separate us from our money.

You may be able to pick up a savage "take-off", heavy barrel on the want adds or in the barrel auctions, etc, and be in for no more than $100-$125 including shipping and any gunsmith tweaks.
OR,.....you can buy a barrel blank, and have it cut, chambered, crowned, and threaded by a good gunsmith, with $350-$500 in it.
I think you may find that there are not a whole lot of companies that will give a guarantee on their barrels, if they sell them without having them guaged while on the action. You are looking at a take-off barrel, or a custom barrel.
I'm a man,....but I can change,.....If I have to,......I guess.0 -
thanks for all the info [:D][:D][:D] 0
