P & O Reloading Press

I just got an old press that is different than any others that I have seen. It is a bench top press that neck sizes 222 Rem. cases. The dies are totally different than RCBS, etc. Does anybody have a bullet seating die for this, or know it they even made one? When was the 222 Rem. a new caliber? The P & O press has to be about that same age? Anybody have any experience with P & O? Thanks for your help.

  I, too, would like to find out about my P&O press.
  Mine is a two position .38 Special, although it has no markings on the dies that I have found. Another that I have heard of is a single stage. Is yours a single with pivoting shellholder like a Bond?
  Is yours marked with the caliber? Could it possibly be a .22 G&H or 2-R Lovell? Those cartridges preceeded the .222 Rem by quite a few years.
  Noone I've talked to seems to have ever even heard of the Covington, Penna. company.
  I was hoping someone would answer your question about the year of introduction of the .222 Remington.
  Let's keep in touch concerning these curious relics.

  Hi Ross,
  Looks like we've stumped the experts. My press is a single stage and has the shell holder solidly pinned to the base. The shell holder and neck-sizing die are both engraved, "222 Rem." Email me at heshannon@cox.net and I'll send you a picture if you're interested.

  The 222 Remington was introduced by Remington in 1950, chambered in their Model 722.

  Much obliged, that helps narrow the search. Maybe some old timer will be able to help point us in the right direction for information on the Covington PA. company.
