the 30-30 has killed more deer than any other cal. out there . yes it has its limits , but as long as you don't try to push it to far it will do just fine and if you already are using a 45lc then you most likely are keeping your shots on the short side anyways, the 30-30 is about a 200 yard gun where the 45lc in a rifle is really getting push if you take it out to 150 yards. go ahead and buy it for $200 you can't go wrong 0 -
Probably a decent buy depnding on what version of M 336 it is.
As for Range 150 Yrd Max
Tajectory of a 170 gr Remmington Soft Pt.
On @ 100
+.07 @ 50
- 8.2 @ 200
-24.6 @ 300

I don't think that you can go wrong with a like new Marlin 336 in .30-30. I think that it will do you want it to with in it's range. If it were me, however, I would look for a 336 in 35 Remington as the .35 is a better deer killer then the .30-30, but not as popular today. 0 -
I have used one for years with no regrets. I have hit and found everything I have shot at. Shots out to 200 yrds. should be no problem. I made a shot ranged at 222 yrds. with Rem. 170 grn hollow points on a whitetail. It can be done. Just practice with it a learn the gun. 0 -
sounds like an excellent buy for a pretty new marlin 30-30. 0 -
for short to medium range shooting on light skinned big game, like whitetail deer, the 30/30 is an absolute classic. Not my choice of deer caliber, but a darn good one none the less. The 30/30 does have it's good points, such as pretty light recoil, maneuverability, reliable action, etc. With good optics, this makes a great all around gun, and it seems to be a very fair deal.
Best of luck,

Killed several deer w/ my Marlin 30-30. Not a bad price either, if you are wanting a new rifle and this fits where you are hunting, for example, the distances, (no long shots), I'd buy it.
Only paid 80.00, for mine, w/case and a box of shells.[:D]
Not to rub it in or anything.
Good luck.0 -
