Stumped w/this Shot Gun...

First, thanks for the help on my other requests!
I have a double barrel/double trigger 20 ga. shotgun made by Tobin Arms Mfg. Co. of New Haven CT. There are no numbers or markings anywhere else on it. I have to believe that it is 1930's because it has been stored since 1940. It is in very good condition. Any idea of value? Also, I have ammo that has been store with it - think that it's o.k. to use or best to destroy it? Thanks...

  I have never heard of this company so it was probably a small gun maker. Maybe a gun smith should look at this before using? If the ammo looks good it is probably all right to shoot. I think that the worst thing that could happen is that it will misfire so no harm done. If it is that old a collector might buy it, though.

  Old double barrel shotguns are the hardest firearms to identify and value. Some were made by famous makers....Parker, L.C. Smith, Remington, Winchester, etc. Some were made by small companies long since gone out of business, and many thousands were inexpensive "hardware store" guns made with private labels by Belgian makers as well as here in the U.S. by such companies as Crescent and Hopkins & Allen.
  
  PLEASE NOTE: Many of these old double barrel shotguns were made for blackpowder and are not safe for modern ammunition. Further, before attempting to shoot any old gun, it's adviseable to have it checked for safety by a competent gunsmith.
