Identification of a magazine?
I picked up a batch of mags the other day. Can anyone identify this one? Who makes it?
I think it is for a 308. No other markings other than the one in the pic.
Thanks
P.S. On a 32 round Uzi mag, what would the numbers "40" or "16" mean? These numbers are on different mags, on the bottom of the back side.

Looks like an old Galil mag, not sure though. Probably the 12rd one.

That is quite clearly a magazine for an Isreali FN FAL rifle. I have about 50 of those surplus magazines sitting around but only two have those markings...must be uncommon or I simply got all my magazines from the same lot. The FAL was adopted by Isreal in 1955 and served well into the 1970's when it was replaced by the Galil. As usual the Snowman is on the money with his explainations of the markings. If you own a metric pattern FAL rifle these are fine magazines.

I've had quite a few of those mags over the years. Definitely FAL, definitely Israeli, 20rd, 7.62x51 NATO, and metric (BTW). A number of years ago, they were quite common, however in recent years we have received more of the FAL mags from other sources. I used to get them brand new in the wrap in bundles of 4. This one appears to be used from the picture.
As for the numbers on the UZI mags, you'll find that on a lot of your original Israeli made ones.0 -
Thanks a lot guys.
Never had an FAL.
lrarmsx, yes they are all used. I was not sure what the numbers on the uzi mags were for.
Guess I got a bunch of (factory?) mags for FAL, UZI, M1A-M14.
Gotta have an auction some time. [:D] [:D]
